Interactive exhibition (mod. 1)

Module 1: Understanding earthquakes

The interactive exhibition is located below the Francois-Xavier Bagnoud lecture hall, on the premises of the HES-SO Valais-Wallis in Sion.

From tectonic plates in the Alpine arc, through the mechanisms at work in faults, the propagation of seismic waves and the liquefaction of sedimentary soils, to giant waves on Lake Geneva, the fundamental aspects of geophysics are taught using hands-on, fun activities, films and explanatory posters. Plan of the exhibition (in French)

Here are some photos of a selection of experiments in the exhibition that give a better understanding of earthquake phenomena.
